Styrian smoked pork and bacon spread — finely chopped and seasoned with marjoram and garlic on dark rye.

Ingredients

  • 200g smoked streaky bacon
  • 100g smoked pork fat or lard
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp dried marjoram
  • dark rye bread to serve

Method

  1. Finely chop or mince the bacon and pork fat together.
  2. Mix with garlic and marjoram. Season well. The spread should be coarse, not smooth.
  3. Spread thickly on dark rye bread. Serve with pickled cucumbers and a cold beer.
