Ingredients

  • 4 thick slices Emmental cheese (about 1cm thick)
  • 100g plain flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 150g breadcrumbs
  • oil for frying
  • tartare sauce, lemon, rocket to serve

Method

  1. Coat cheese in flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs. Press firmly so no cheese is exposed.
  2. Fry in hot oil 2 minutes per side until golden. Work quickly — the cheese melts fast.
  3. Drain on a wire rack and serve immediately with tartare sauce, lemon, and rocket.
