Savoy cabbage soup with smoked pork hock, caraway, and potatoes. Long-simmered and comforting.

Ingredients

  • 1 smoked pork hock
  • half savoy cabbage, shredded
  • 3 potatoes, diced
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 1 tsp caraway seeds
  • 2L water

Method

  1. Cover the hock with cold water. Bring to a boil, skim, then simmer 45 minutes.
  2. Add carrots, potatoes, cabbage, and caraway. Simmer a further 30-35 minutes.
  3. Remove hock, shred the meat, and return to the soup. Discard skin and bone.
  4. Season and serve with dark bread.
